In view of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Telangana Chief Minister KCR has gone ahead of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in fighting against PM Narendra Modi and BJP. Chandrasekhar Rao alias KCR organized a huge public meeting in Khammam, Telangana on Wednesday, which was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and leaders of Left parties. The special thing is that Nitish Kumar, who is engaged in the campaign to unite the opposition parties, was not invited in this program.
This is the first big rally in Telangana after KCR’s party Telangana Rashtra Samithi became Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Before the public meeting in Khammam on Wednesday, KCR took all the leaders to the Lakshmi Narasimha temple at Yadadri and gave them darshan. After this addressed a public meeting dedicated to farmers in Khammam.
What is KCR’s strategy?
KCR is eyeing a strong third front ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. All the parties he invited to Khammam can join this front. However, no official announcement has been made regarding this yet. BRS leaders and workers are projecting KCR as the PM candidate. KCR himself has said that he will now do national level politics. In such a situation, his campaign to bring the opposition parties on a single platform is considered important in the strategy against the BJP.
away from congress
Before the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections are to be held in Telangana by the end of this year. The Congress is the main rival of the BRS in Telangana. BJP is also trying its best to increase its base in Telangana. In the recently held National Working Committee meeting of the BJP, Telangana is prominent among the nine states that JP Nadda has set a target of winning the elections. In such a situation, KCR does not want to join any such alliance at the national level, in which Congress or BJP is included. Their strategy is clear, they want to form a front which is against BJP and does not have Congress in it.
Why didn’t KCR call Nitish Kumar?
After parting ways with the BJP in August last year, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar announced to unite the opposition parties ahead of the 2024 elections. A few days later, KCR came to Patna and met other leaders including Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav. Both the leaders announced to promote opposition unity by holding a joint press conference in Patna. After this the JDU leader started projecting Nitish as the PM candidate of the opposition and things got worse from here.
Actually, Nitish Kumar is trying to make himself the prime minister of the opposition. But other leaders like KCR, Arvind Kejriwal also have the same ambitions. Nitish had met several leaders of opposition parties like Sonia Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Sharad Yadav in Delhi in October. But talks could not be done with anyone regarding the alliance. Nitish’s campaign went into cold storage.
After Bihar, Nitish will go on a tour of the country, CM told the plan for 2024
On the other hand, KCR has started the exercise of forging a separate front by sidelining the Congress, which seems to be paying off now. Nitish Kumar does not want to leave the Congress. On the other hand, leaders like Kejriwal-Akhilesh and KCR do not want Congress in the opposition front. This is the reason why KCR is now forming an opposition front by staying away from Nitish Kumar, in which he has not been included.
What will Nitish do now?
Nitish Kumar is currently taking out Samadhan Yatra in Bihar. Recently, when he was asked a question related to national politics, he said that after the budget session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, he would leave for the country’s tour. His campaign to unite opposition parties, which started last year, is currently in cold storage, speculations are rife that Nitish will soon start working on it again.
