There is good news for the retired government employees of Rajasthan. The Finance Department of the state is going to start the process of giving the amount under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) to the people who retired before April 1, 2022. This move of the government is expected to benefit around 3,500 retired employees.

Joint Secretary Finance (Rules) Syed Zainuddin Shahid said that the issue related to ‘General Revenue Head’ has been resolved and the amount will be disbursed in 3 to 4 days, The Times of India reported.

Shahid said, “It was taking time to get permission from the Accountant General (AG) for utilization of the ‘General Revenue Head’. Hence, we have decided to use ‘pension head’ to deposit the amount.

The Finance Department had issued a circular on September 6, 2022, asking state government employees appointed on and after January 1, 2004, to refund the money by December 31, 2022, who had taken new jobs between April 1, 2022, and August 28, 2022. The money was withdrawn under the Pension Scheme (NPS). Now its date has been extended to March 31, 2023. The old pension scheme was restored in Rajasthan from April 1.

Quick guidelines for insurance companies on OPS

It will outline the modalities for integrating insurance and pension to verify the amount to be deposited and subsequent settlement of pension amount.
