Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai has said that this will only benefit the shipping companies of some DMK leaders. The BJP leader has made several tweets targeting Chief Minister MK Stalin and opposing the Sethusamudram project. Apart from this, some Hindu sadhus have expressed concern over the waterway project, saying that it will harm Ramsetu.
Won’t let Ram Sethu be broken: BJP leader

Stalin passed the resolution in the assembly
Stalin had on Thursday passed a resolution on the Sethusamudram project in the assembly. The DMK president said, “The Sethusamudram project will provide employment to 50,000 people. Our former chief minister Kalainar Karunanidhi had also said the same.” Stalin said, “Sethusamudram is the dream project of Anna and Kalingar. He further said, “The BJP opposed the Sethusamudram project only because of political reasons. The then CM Jayalalithaa was in favor of the Sethusamudram project, but suddenly she too changed her stand and filed a case against it.”
Sadhus opposed Stalin’s proposal
Reacting to the resolution of the assembly, Hindu saints said that the project is against ‘Sanatan Dharma’. Saint Diwakar Acharya said on Friday, “If the government tries to damage Ram Sethu, we will take bullets in our chest. It is our pride.” “Any attempt to damage Ram Setu will be strongly resisted by saints. We will gather at the holy site from across the country to thwart such attempts,” he said. At the same time, Mahant Chandrabhushan, a saint from Ayodhya, said, “The government is resorting to vote bank politics to please some people of the country.”
